Personal Photography Workshops
I offer photographers who wish to spend a day delving into the kind of unconstrained nude portraiture that I love so much the chance to do so. I recently learned that these little workshops are most gratifying when working with other individuals or very small groups of friends so do reach out if you like to work and explore like that.
I have an unwavering passion for making honest, evocative, timeless and at times somewhat raw nude portraits and I enjoying sharing my experience and insights with those who share similar passions. I am by no means a teacher but a completely self-taught photographer with a whole lot of experience, know-how and love for this medium. These little workshops are very informal and conversational in approach and tone. They are not really for those that are into endless technical photography geekery but rather present a chance to explore and practice the processes and decision making that tends to result in strong, compelling images. I share my own practices, processes and approach freely but the focus is ultimately in helping you find, or hone, your own personal approach.
I am running these little workshops with my partner in crime who happens to also be an exquisite model, Silas (https://www.instagram.com/riverofmyths/). As someone who seeks to make imagery that is rather intimate, I am of the view that the voices of the people we capture are incredibly important and so Silas doesn't merely model for us but is an integral, crucial and equal part of the conversation.
Even though I personally happen to work exclusively with old analogue cameras, these workshops are in no way reserved for those that share that particular mad inclination. They are open to anyone who harbours a love for creating photographs of other humans, no matter what gadgets you may use.
One of the main advantages of offering these days to individuals and very small groups of friends is that we are able to tailor the day specifically to your interests and inclinations. Still, generally speaking, we're likely to have conversations about how to hone a personal approach to one's photography. What kind of photography exactly do you want to create? What does photography mean to you and what is the purpose behind your practice and imagery? How does one best go from one's original vision and intent to a strong body of work? How to go about selecting and booking models? Discussions around behaviours, boundaries, ethics and direction during shoots. etc etc
We are based in SE London and can host these sessions at a private house with a small photography studio and a range of other suitable spaces, both indoor and outdoor, in and around the property. During the warm months, we also like to do these in a beautiful large park like Richmond Park. Ultimately it'll be up to you.
Cost: £300 for the day. There will always be good food, of course.
Interested perhaps? Drop me a line and we'll take it from there.
